1. What can I expect at the first visit?


Please try to show up 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete any paperwork necessary to conduct the evaluation. After you meet with the physical therapist and discuss your specific problem and goals a comprehensive examination to determine the source of pain. The therapist will discuss the problem and determine your course of treatment. Also, you can expect a home exercise program at the onset of care as our mission is to empower our clients with the ability to manage their condition independently.

2. What do I bring to the first visit?

Please bring a photo ID, health insurance card (if using insurance), New Client paperwork downloaded from the website, and shorts/loose fitting clothing for comfort.

3. What should I wear?


Wear or bring something comfortable like shorts or pants with an elastic waistband. Women should wear or bring a tank top or sports top in order to expose the area involved. For your convenience you may change clothing at the clinic.

4. How long is each session?

The evaluation will be about 60 minutes and each subsequent appointment will be about 45 minutes give or take a few.

5. Will my insurance cover the cost?


We accept all major medical insurance plans and are contracted with Blue Shield and Tricare at this time. Medicare is accepted as well. Payments for charges not covered by health insurance are collected at the time services are rendered. Clients are responsible for the payment of deductibles and any coinsurance at the time of service. For your convenience, payments can be made by cash, check or credit card. Please contact Renew Physical Therapy to discuss our fee schedule or any other financial matters.

6. If I don’t have insurance can I still be treated?


For those without insurance or those who decide not to use their insurance (good for those with high deductibles or who choose to come to us directly without seeing a physician), save time by paying out-of-pocket and receive a 20% discount at the time services are rendered.

7. Do I need to see my physician before starting physical therapy?


If you are using insurance for payment most plans require that you have a referral from a physician, primary care or specialist, before starting treatment. For specific details regarding your coverage and benefits for physical therapy call your insurance carrier or contact us and we’ll do it for you. You do not need a physician’s referral if you are paying out-of-pocket. In addition, you will be given a 20% discount if payment is received at the time services are rendered.

8. What are your hours of operation?


We are currently open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8AM to 6PM. Please call or email us for an appointment.

9. Can I still come to Renew Physical Therapy if my physician referred me to another clinic?


Yes you can in most circumstances. Please call our office, 415 381.8707, and we can answer any questions that you may have. Please keep in mind that your physician will receive a treatment plan and up to date status reports throughout your treatment. We feel that communication is vital in your road to recovery.

10. How often do I need to attend physical therapy?


This can range depending on the severity and intensity of the injury. At the conclusion of the evaluation your therapist will discuss and review your plan of care which includes how often you should schedule. Our goal at Renew Physical Therapy is to empower you with the tools necessary to manage your condition independently as soon as possible.

11. What is a 15 minute Orthopedic Screening?


An Orthopedic Screen is a free service provided by Renew Physical Therapy to answer any questions you may have about your physical health. During this screening a physical therapist will do a brief physical therapy assessment and provide a recommendation for treatment and/or follow-up care if needed. This 15 minute screening should provide you with quick answers to your questions and recommendations for further care, either with us at Renew Physical Therapy or with the appropriate health care professional.
